Philips BFL/HFL Hotel Range

Applies to: Philips BFL & HFL “Hotel” series used for digital signage with Fusion Signage.
Compatibility: These models are only compatible up to Fusion Signage app version 2.5.3. Newer app versions will not work on these devices.

Summary

Hotel‑grade Philips BFL/HFL TVs ship with guest‑privacy behaviours (like automatic cache clearing) that can interfere with persistent digital signage playback. This guide consolidates setup, configuration, and common workarounds so your screens boot reliably into Fusion Signage and keep their identity code. These devices only support up to app version 2.5.3 and will not work with later app versions.

Stop automatic cache clearing (keeps the Identity Code stable)

Hotel TVs are designed to wipe app data between guests. For signage, disable this so the device doesn’t generate a new Identity Code after every reboot.

  1. On the TV remote, press the following sequence within a few seconds to open the Professional Menu:
    Mute → Left → Right → Up → Down → OK

  2. In Professional MenuSettingsSwitch on FeatureApp.

  3. Back in Professional MenuGuest ManagementUser Data ClearingOff.

Set power on/off schedule (optional)

If you want the display to turn on/off automatically:

  • Use the built‑in Philips Professional Installation scheduling options.

  • Typical path: Professional MenuSettingsScheduling / Timers (wording varies by model/firmware).

  • Set On/Off times for each day as required.

Tip: If the TV powers on but doesn’t load the app, ensure Switch on Feature → App is set (see above) and that User Data Clearing remains Off.

Recommended Fusion Signage app settings (for legacy hotel models)

  • App version: v2.5.3

  • Auto‑start: Ensure Fusion Signage launches on boot.

  • Network time: Confirm correct time/date to prevent schedule drift.

Troubleshooting

Identity Code keeps changing after reboot
• Re‑apply Guest Management → User Data Clearing → Off.
• Confirm you saved changes before exiting the menu.
• Check for any hotel/guest mode “reset on power‑off” options and disable them.

Device won’t appear online
• Verify network access (try Ethernet).
• Confirm time/date and DNS.
• Ensure Fusion Signage app version is ≤ 2.5.3.

Power schedule not running
• Re‑check scheduling menu and day‑of‑week profiles.
• Confirm the TV clock is correct (NTP).
• If HDMI/OPS is used, ensure CEC/Control settings aren’t overriding panel power.

Model notes

  • Behaviour and menu labels can vary slightly by model and firmware. If a menu item isn’t present, look for similarly named options (e.g., “Guest Mode”, “Hospitality”, “Privacy”, “Factory Reset on Power‑Off”).

How to update the firmware

  1. Connect the power cable to the screen.

  2. Plug in the USB with firmware (autorun.upg file) and Clone data (TPM181HE_CloneData folder) to the blue USB port on the side panel.

  3. If the screen hasn’t turned on, power on the screen. The screen should then boot automatically into the ICC (Instant Initial Cloning) section.

  4. Wait for screen to automatically update.

  5. Once the firmware update has completed, the screen will automatically upload the Clone Data.

  6. Once cloning has completed, press the OK button on the remote to close the cloning screen.

  7. Finalise the on-screen setup by setting the Presentation Mode to be Off and connect the screen to the internet.

  8. Press the Back button repeatedly to exit out of the Pro menu

  9. Restart the Screen

  10. Fusion Signage should now load automatically.

My screen is stuck on the ICC section

  3. Set the room ID correctly or leave it blank if unknown, then press Confirm.

  4. Click Accept when presented with Google Data Notice and Terms of Service
